Based off of member feedback, we elected to try something new for our summer social event. This year, we will be volunteering with the Mississippi Park Connection on the Coldwater Spring Project. The National Park Service began restoring Coldwater Spring’s 29 acres in 2011, and along with Mississippi Park Connection, other partners, and volunteers, we are restoring Coldwater Spring to an open landscape with oak savanna, prairie, and bluff top woodlands. This park in progress depends on people like you.
Join the Women’s Environmental Network (WEN) for our hands-on summer volunteer event. We look forward to a rewarding day restoring our National Park on the Mississippi River and networking with colleagues in the environmental field.
What to Bring:
- A full water bottle for drinking
- Sun screen, sun glasses, sweatshirts and tick/mosquito repellent
- Long pants and sturdy, close toed shoes
- Appropriate clothing to get wet and/or muddy
Mississippi Park Connection and the National Park Service will provide all tools and gloves. We carry a first aid kit and are within easy access of major thoroughfares.
The work that we do is outdoors, and our policy is to work rain or shine. The National Park Service will make a determination to postpone if severe weather conditions (like thunderstorms) arise.
