10th Annual Networking Event
WEN MN’s 10th Annual Networking Event on April 9, 2019 was part career fair – with representatives from leading local and national environmental entities engaging WEN members and guests from behind tables – part networking conversation – with all attendees mingling over food and drinks – and a whole lot of environmental mastery and inspiration in one place.
As in previous years, there was a wonderful mix of sponsors from academia to non-profit and from regional to international, including American Engineering Testing, Inc., Capitol Region Watershed District, Citizens Utility Board, Conservation Corps of Minnesota and Iowa, DDMS, Inc., University of Minnesota Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering, Institute on the Environment, Great River Greening, Minnesota Association of Environmental Professionals, Minnesota Technical Assistance Program, Mississippi Watershed Management Organization, Stantec Inc., Tennant Company, The Nature Conservancy, U.S. Geological Survey, and Wenck. It was wonderful to see opportunities in the environmental field expanding and opening in different sectors.
Held at Northstar Ballroom at the University of Minnesota St. Paul campus, attendees were primarily students wanting to meet employers and identify potential career paths and opportunities within the environmental sector. In addition to networking, attendees also made good use of resume reviewers – qualified individuals who ran through and gave pointers to ensure resumes give an accurate and good first impression. Even with two resume reviewers, all spots were filled within the first hour!
