Annual Networking Event Featured Sponsor: Minnesota Farmers Union
Minnesota Farmers Union’s roots can be traced back to 1918 when the first local chapter started in Jackson County. Minnesota Farmers Union (MFU) is a nonprofit, membership-based organization that works to protect and strengthen the interests of family farmers and ranchers. It is the voice of family farmers in St. Paul and Washington, D.C. Some of the programs and opportunities from MFU include the Farmers Kitchen + Bar restaurant with its mission to serve delicious local food; summer camps to educate youth about agriculture, cooperatives and leadership; Minnesota Cooks’ annual calendar which beautifully highlights local farmers and businesses, as well as engaging events for its members, such as Lobby Day and Women’s Conference.
In February of 2023, MFU expanded their team by welcoming Ariel Kagan as Climate & Working Lands Program Director as well as Lisa Holm as Local Foods & Climate Coordinator. Ariel and Lisa support events and programs to enhance the environment, climate and local food systems.
Members of MFU have diverse backgrounds ranging from farmers to entrepreneurs to those that simply want to become more connected with Minnesota agriculture. Members of MFU receive benefits including the monthly Minnesota Agriculture publication which features articles on policy, amazing initiatives from MFU members, events and more. In March of 2023 in honor of Women’s History Month, MFU created a special magazine edition focused on the legacy, leadership and dedication of current and past MFU women. Members can also gain access by mail and email to information on events and county conventions within their area. New to 2023, individuals that have no previous membership with MFU are eligible to receive one free year of membership when they sign up for auto-renewal. Visit mfu.org to learn more about membership and the impact of Minnesota Farmers Union.
Women’s Environmental Network of Minnesota is proud to have Minnesota Farmers Union as a Collaborator sponsor for the 2023 Annual Event!
